This is going to involve being a bit more professional with the subject at hand.
I am going to add sacrificial blanks to each end of the turning and cut everything down to the same size.
I am going to properly align these pieces.
And I am going to do a much better clamping job. This is not funny any more.
In the meantime, I am going to do a little practicing. This is a piece of Paduak, a hard reddish wood from Africa.
Might as well add some inlay.

I used a power sander to cut off the tail.
That's about as far as I dare go with the other end. I'll use a saw to cut it off.

Ought to look good in dark brown or black hair.
Failing that, it would make a great defensive weapon for close quarters combat.
