The Arboretum sports a collection of bronzes on loan from China and there are those who take issue with one sculpture in particular. Guess which one. It has generated quite a lot of fodder for talk radio and I of course had to see it for myself. The anti-boob crowd would have one believe that this is what you are greeted with upon entering the Bronze Trail. This is not the case. Upon entrance to the trail, you can pick up a guide to what you are about to see and there is signage indicating that not all sculptures may be appropriate for all audiences.... Below, the bronzes are pictured in sequence: Hmmmm......I wonder why no one had any heartache with this one.... Yep, this looks like a highly offensive sculpture to me......not. And what about this one - doesn't the subject appear rather young? Bronzes Bronzes Bronzes The Bronze trail is definitely worth a visit and it only costs $3.00 for admission to the Arboretum. I think many of those who find such offense in one of these bronzes in particular, have some of the same traits as those of my Cairn Terrier.....in that where the Cairn terrier has 'selective hearing' polished to a fine art, the same could be said for those with finely honed 'selective moral outrage.' |
