Cambria, CA - Mission San Miguel |
![]() Mission San Miguel was one of the better preserved missions, at least it was until the San Simeon Earthquake of 2003. ![]() The mission was damaged and it reopened three years later, in 2006. ![]() The Hearst family did have reach. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The cemetery. ![]() Bell tower. ![]() ![]() ![]() The devil being slain. ![]() ![]() Cooking oven. ![]() ![]() Original sheepskin windows. ![]() Monk's bed. ![]() ![]() In the church. ![]() ![]() At first I thought I was looking at a sun and its rays. Then I got a closer look. ![]() Maybe it's because I've listened to too much Coast to Coast, but I thought this symbol was a little weird so I looked it up. Turns out to the Catholics, the all-seeing eye represents God's omniscience and the triangle is symbolic of the holy trinity. Learn something new every day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I liked this mission and would recommend a visit. |
