This hotel was offering winter rates that were hard to beat. Nice view of the Pacific Ocean. This guy was actually pretty friendly and not too obnoxious - for a gull. The pool. Rocks along the coast. Escargot on the move. Lettuce is in season. I think this is Romaine. Tons of grapes. Hola! has to have been one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever dined at. This was three tamales stuffed with three different types of meat, with black beans and rice on the side. The poblano dish was outstanding. "Two large poblano chiles stuffed with Mexican picadillo beef, carrots, potatoes, raisins, onions and topped with walnut cream sauce. Garnished with pomegranate seeds. " Dinner About dinner............ I would not normally spend the number of $$$$ at a place like this when I can go and eat some very nice tamales or go to the local grocery store and pick up a deli dinner and a nice bottle of wine for what would usually be extremely cheap compared to restaurant prices but............this was a special 'we need your business' winter discount rate and boy, they were discounted. Featured here is what is left of a Red Abalone appetizer. The meals were outstanding and very much worth the discounted prices. I would do that again (one time per trip) in a heart beat. I didn't take pictures of the meals themselves because considering other guests it would have been sort of lacking in style or gauche, as the French would define it. This mission as worth a brief stop. Not a lot there but it was nicely maintained. |
